New Therapeutic Aids for Children with Hair Loss

Komfy Kids offers therapeutic aids for cancer and alopecia patients.

Henderson, NV - New therapeutic aid provides comfort for children with hair loss and is a teaching tool for schools, groups, and medical professionals.

Created by Chris and Cipriana Bovill, Cipriana being an alopecia patient of thirty years, Komfy Kids is the first of its kind in mental and emotional treatment for hair loss. These therapeutic aids come in the form of a soft huggable doll that resembles a child. Through its unique hairless and fun design, Komfy Kids are able to help children psychologically deal with the trauma of hair loss. Children can relate and identify with it, and they are extremely beneficial to a child’s well-being.

The two main medical reasons for children to have hair loss are from chemotherapy treatments for cancer, and from alopecia, an autoimmune disease.

The uses of Komfy Kids are endless: an excellent show and tell item for a child at school, a tool for a teacher or school professional to use to demonstrate and discuss hair loss, for medical professionals when working with children, play therapy, an adult with hair loss explaining to young children, and to comfort children with hair loss, their siblings and family members.

"Growing up as a child without hair, I know what it’s like to not fit in and how difficult it is to deal with the many traumatic aspects of being the bald girl in school. I wanted to help children deal with their hair loss in a fun and educational way and provide an avenue for increasing public awareness," said Cipriana, "A lot of people will say that it’s just hair loss, but it is so much more. It is ones identity, and to lose that security and comfort and become immediately vulnerable to ridicule can be devastating."

The couple began their endeavor a year ago when they realized that so little was being done to help and support the bald children of the world.

Komfy Kids come in both boys and girls and have special wigs just for them. This helps in children having to learn to wear a wig themselves. The line will be growing to include other ethnicities as hair loss does not limit itself to any one race.
